Verdict

The Queen’s Mathematician by Miracle Tonic is a fun, creative, and easy-to-play choose-your-own-adventure game for children in the age group of 6 to 8. It’s an interesting math game with a great narrative in which the kids are entrusted with the responsibility of rescuing the Tree queen after she’s been kidnapped by a group of math-loving mischievous elves. The children are encouraged to stretch their imagination in a quirky treehouse castle that is full of surprises and random math challenges. In this expedition to save the queen, they are expected to act as the queen’s best mathematician and make use of their elementary math knowledge such as addition and subtraction to solve word problems and advance further in the rescue challenge. In the course of the game, kids are not only presented with math questions but also need to pick and choose from the objects inside the castle to determine the game’s direction.

What’s unique about this voice app is that it transports children to an imaginary land with exciting hidden math challenges to create a fascinating experience for these young users. The skill is packed with plenty of child-friendly content and humor along with interesting sound effects. A great advantage of enabling the skill is that the users may never encounter the same adventure twice. With thousands of different possible paths and randomization of puzzles, kids can replay the game as many times as they want without boredom. The skill seems to advocate the concept of reinforcement learning with gentle encouragement for early elementary learners to strengthen and hone their mathematical abilities. Having said that, below are a few downsides; the first one being, the display functionality of the skill is quite basic in comparison with other adventure skills; due to the bigger font size, the user often needs to scroll the screen up to view the non-math options. Another setback is, kids will not be able to resume the game from where it was left off. Every time they will have to start the adventure from the very beginning.

Nevertheless, the VOGO Voice team scores the Queen’s Mathematician with a 4.4 out of 5-stars based on our review criteria. If you’re looking for some variety in your kid’s Alexa math games, Miracle Tonic’s Queen Mathematician could be a great option. Although the recommended age range falls between 6 and 8, adults can certainly try this game to develop their mental math skills.
